PRASAD

Prasad project is a manifestation of a generation initiated by Artlab. Prasad is a not-for-profit, street-art movement where a collective group is selecting unique Nepali persona (positive creators and local heroes), and turning their facial profiles into art. The objective of Prasad is to inspire the youth by reminding them of what these unique personas, the heroes we share in common, contributed within our Nepalese society through exposing their faces, past and present, in the public space.
We see that every day more than thousands of people, mainly youth, leave Nepal. They feel there are few opportunities in the country, too many obstacles, and they have lost faith in positive change. However, we want to show them there is still hope in this paralyzed nation and there are people who are still creating and contributing, in spite of the difficulties existing in Nepal. It’s all about inspiration!
We want to create awareness about this idea and reach out to youth living around Nepal by conducting workshops, creating networks, executing the idea through art on the streets and conducting exhibitions in various regions of Nepal.

“Prasad” in Sanskrit means a sweet offering. We wanted to create art and offer it to the youth by showing Nepali persona who has contributed positively towards the society – thus the name of our project became Prasad. We believe this offering could inspire the youth in creating opportunities in their homeland.
